Meet Nicole Thompson, LCSW

Practice and Experience

I'm Nicole Thompson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience helping adults move through anxiety, depression, and life transitions toward a fuller, steadier version of their lives.

I work with clients navigating fear, lack of motivation, hopelessness, and the kind of exhaustion that comes from carrying too much for too long. Using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I collaborate with each client to define what matters most to them and build a real path toward it.

Over the course of my career, I've worked in residential facilities, schools, community mental health settings, and private practice, experience that shapes how I show up with every client I work with now.

Treatment and Approach

I primarily draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), often alongside solution-focused and strength-based approaches, and motivational interviewing to help clients move from insight into action. For clients with a trauma history, I incorporate trauma-informed care to make sure our work feels safe, not just effective. All of this is available entirely through telehealth, so support fits into your life rather than adding another obstacle to it.

Specialties

I specialize in anxiety, depression, and life transitions, including career changes, relationship shifts, becoming a parent, grief, and simply outgrowing a version of life that no longer fits. I also work with trauma, relationship and family conflict, self-esteem, and stress. I'm an LGBTQ+ affirming provider, and I welcome clients navigating identity and relationship structures that don't fit a one-size-fits-all mold.

Who I Work With

I work with adults who are ready to stop just getting through the day and start actually living it. Whether you're dealing with anxiety that won't quiet down, depression that's dimmed things that used to matter, or a life transition that's left you feeling unmoored, I'm here to help you find solid ground again.

Modalities

I offer individual therapy as my primary focus, along with couples counseling, family counseling, career counseling, and clinical coaching and supervision, all delivered through secure telehealth.

More about Nicole

Curly dog lying on a bed with a tufted headboard.
Sunset over a beach with silhouetted palm trees.
Sea turtle swimming underwater near the ocean floor.

Outside of session, I share my life with Winston, my Australian Labradoodle, who splits his time between long walks, zoomies around the house, and taking up more than his fair share of the couch.

I love to travel and spend time near the water whenever I can, whether that's reading outside, trying a new recipe, or learning about a new culture. Snorkeling is a particular favorite, especially on the rare occasion I get to swim alongside a sea turtle, my unofficial spirit animal.
